Intro

Music Speed Changer iOS is a music player with a built-in real-time music editor that is set up to work with Apple's VoiceOver and other screen readers. This article is an overview of the layout of the app and functionality. It is meant as an intro for getting started and as a reference for better understanding the app.

Basic Operation with VoiceOver on in a Nutshell

Select a track from anywhere within the app by double-tapping on it. It will start playing in a mini player, which is a bar across the screen about an inch from the bottom of your device, just above the main navigation at the bottom. On an iPhone, you will find it just above the playlist button. The first bar contains a small square with the album art on the left, followed by the title and artist, a play/pause button and a next button. When tapped, VoiceOver will read the open track's title and say tap to open editor. Double-tapping here opens the editor for altering the currently playing track.

The App Layout

The app has five main sections, which are accessed by buttons at the bottom of the screen. The sections are Listen Now, Playlists, Library, Files and My Creations.

  1. Listen Now is the first main section and is accessed with the first button from the bottom left. Listen Now has a more button at the very top right from which you can access the app's settings, help, contact us, write a review and privacy policy. Next, it has a heading of Listen Now, followed by three horizontal lists of your recently played, your most played and your favorite tracks.
  2. Playlists is the second main section and is accessed with the second button from the bottom left. The layout of this screen is the heading, playlists, followed by a button to create a new playlist, followed by all the existing playlists in alphabetical order. To create a playlist, tap on the New Playlist button at the top of the screen under the heading. There are two types of playlists you can create in the app, unlocked and locked. Unlocked playlists can contain your iTunes media and other files for which you have full editing rights. Locked playlists can hold your Apple streaming media for which you have limited listening-only rights.
  3. Library is the third main section and is accessed with the third button from the bottom left. This section gives access to your Apple media. It is divided into two sections, unlocked and locked. You can switch between unlocked and locked with the two buttons at the very top center of the screen. Unlocked has all your iTunes media for which you have full editing rights. Locked has your listen-only Apple streaming media.
  4. Files is the fourth main section and is accessed with the fourth button from the bottom left. This section gives access to your personal files. There is a menu button in the top right with the options to select several or all files in the files section or to sort the existing tracks in this section. The sort options are title or recently added. Underneath this button is the title section files, and underneath the heading there is a search box for searching through the files already in this section. Underneath the search is the import feature. Tapping this button brings up the Apple file browsing options. Here you can select new files to import from iCloud, your phone, Google Drive, or other locations you have enabled to access. (There is an edit button at the top right of this page that lets you enable locations such as Google Drive). Below the import on this screen, there is a list of all previously imported tracks, which are ready to be used in the app.
  5. My Creations is the fifth main section and is accessed with the fifth button from the bottom left. This section gives access to the files you have created within the app. There is a menu button in the top right with the options to select several or all files in the MyCreations section or to sort the existing tracks in this section. The sort options are title or recently added. Underneath this button is the title section MyCreations, and underneath the heading there is a search box for searching through the files already in this section.

Mini Player

The mini player is a bar across the screen about an inch from the bottom of your device, just above the main navigation at the bottom.

Settings

The app has some useful settings that can be accessed by tapping the second button from the top right of the editor or the first option in the top right menu of the Listen Now section. The first section in settings has different editor modes you can select to use, as well as the option to custom configure the editor layout. After that, there are different options for speed and pitch settings, followed by the option to have the app remember settings for each track edited.

Enable Plus/Minus Buttons

The app gives the option to enable plus/minus buttons on either side of the slider controls on the editor screen. This can make it easier to adjust up and down. To enable this feature, in settings, scroll down to Enable Plus Minus Buttons and use the toggle button to turn on plus and minus buttons.

Open tracks in editor setting

The app gives the option to open tracks directly in the editor window instead of the default mini player. To enable the direct edit, in settings, scroll down to the bottom to tracks open in editor, and use the toggle button to turn on the feature.
